Stump Grinding

Do I need a permit to remove a tree?

It depends on your municipality and the tree’s size or species. Many cities require permits for trees over a certain diameter or those on protected species lists. We handle the permit research for every job and can file on your behalf in most jurisdictions — ask us during your estimate and we’ll take care of it.

How long does a full tree removal take?

Most residential removals are completed in a single day. A small to medium tree typically takes 2–4 hours from setup to cleanup. Large crane-assisted removals may take a full day or occasionally two. We’ll give you a realistic time estimate when we assess the job.

Is stump grinding included in the removal price?

Yes — we include stump grinding to 6–8 inches below grade with all full-tree removals. This eliminates the stump, removes the tripping hazard, and prevents regrowth. If you’d like the stump ground deeper or the grindings hauled away rather than left as mulch, just let us know and we’ll include that in the quote.

What happens to the wood after removal?

By default, we chip all brush and haul away all debris, leaving your property clean. If you’d like to keep the wood for firewood, we’re happy to cut logs to your preferred length and stack them. Just let us know before we start — there’s no extra charge for firewood cutting.

How close can you remove a tree to my house?

Very close — even directly against a foundation or overhanging a roofline. Our crane-assisted removal method was specifically designed for this scenario. We can remove trees with zero drop zone, lifting each section vertically and placing it precisely in the loading zone. This is one of our most common jobs.
